When should I schedule a newborn session?
Most of my clients book their newborn session around their second trimester. I take a limited amount of sessions each month so my schedule fills up pretty quickly. It is so important to contact me early or midway through your pregnancy to ensure a spot on the calendar. Sessions are scheduled for when baby is between 10-21 days old. Although newborn photos are best done in the first two weeks, you can absolutely still get gorgeous photos of your brand new little one past the ideal recommended age! If I can get you in, we're going to give it a shot, and in my opinion, something is better than nothing!
What should I bring for a newborn session? Do I need to bring any outfits or props?
The studio is filled with beautiful handmade outfits and props. You will have so much to choose from! With that being said, if you have something small/special that you want to be photographed with or on your child, feel free to bring it with you. Check out our studio page above to see some of the things we offer. If you give you newborn gas drops, a bottle, or a pacifier (no lovie attached), please bring these with you.
Is newborn photography safe for my baby?
Newborn photography is safe when the photographer knows (and is properly trained) how to handle and work with newborn babies. The safety and comfort of your baby is my number one priority, closely followed by getting precious photos of your little one! I have worked closely with newborn babies for the past 10 years. I graduated with my degree in Early Childhood Development and have taken multiple safety workshops to ensure that your baby is in safe hands. Your child will never be forced into any sort of pose that they do not want to be in. I am a firm believer in studio cleanliness, proper heating, proper handling, and ensuring the safety of different props used throughout the session - because babies are not props or art - they are beautiful, little humans!
What should I wear to get my picture taken?
I always encourage parents to wear and/or dress their children in neutral colors (this includes white, cream, grey, brown, black, and light colors) and to avoid bright colors, patterns, and graphic t-shirts. This helps ensure that the focus is on the person/child/family rather than the clothes. Pinterest is a fantastic place to look for coordinating inspiration for photos. Don't be afraid to ask for help choosing clothing, I'm always happy to help!
How are my photos delivered? Can I print them?
Your images will be delivered to you via a private online gallery. Digital files, prints, and canvases may all be purchased right through the gallery. If you purchase large resolution images, you are allowed to print the images for personal use.
How long does it take to get my photos?
I know how hard it can be to wait for your photos - it really is exciting! Wait time for your gallery is usually about 2 weeks. Once your gallery is edited and fully compete, you will receive a link to your private online gallery.
What kind of products do you offer?
I specialize in creating custom heirloom wall art, albums, and print portraits. My goal in each session is to create a beautiful set of images and transfer those images onto custom canvases and prints designed for your home.
Canvases: The canvases I provide are gorgeous, wrapped, and fully ready to install. We have plenty of examples in the studio!
Frames: I work with an amazing framing business to provide you with gorgeous reclaimed wood frames. Check out our frames during your session to see just how beautiful they are!
Albums: We work together to create a perfect album for you to cherish for generations!
How do I pay you?
Most invoices are securely paid through PayPal with a credit or debit card. Checks and cash are also accepted!
